“A
Wee Touch O’ Class”, written by Rikki Fulton, was very loosely adapted into
Scots from Moliere’s “Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme”. The play is set in the
New Town of Edinburgh, when it was new and fashionable. Erchie Jenner, a
wealthy, retired businessman, of very humble origins, has moved into the New
Town. His ambition is to be accepted into High Society and there is great comedy
in his attempts to acquire “culture”. Frustrated young lovers, a devious
scrounging nobleman, an illicit rendezvous with a lady which backfires with
hilarious results, all combine to bring Erchie back down to earth. There are
lots of comic characters in this farcical comedy, which will delight Fringe
audiences. “A Wee Touch O’ Class” will be presented by Leitheatre, at St Serf’s Hall, Clark Road (off Ferry Road) Goldenacre, Edinburgh, from Saturday 2nd August to Saturday 16th August (Not Sundays) nightly at 7.30pm, with the exception of Saturday 16th August, when there will be a matinee at 2.30pm, and no evening show. 4 star
review in the Edinburgh Evening News. Read the review here
